Chapter Overview
This chapter explains VIS settings for sending out event notifications.
About Notifications
Supported Media
The only supported media for notifications is email. VIS comes with a built in client that connects to an external Event Gates SMTP server for sending emails. Attributes like sender email address are predefined. Changes to email delivery infrastructure such as the server may require customization.
System Notifications
Only system event that can be associated with a notification is mute. If defined, VIS sends out emails to predefined recipients when the system is muted, unmuted and state of mute on every restart.
Requirements
VIS requires an unrestricted internet connection to send email alerts.
Notification Settings
Any event can be associated with a notification. Configuration Manager application allows administrators to select each event separately, name it and complete a recipient list to define receiver. All notifications share the same from name, email text and body and the recipient list except mute notifications which do have their own recipient list.

Conditional Notifications
The sending of an alert message regarding an event can be conditional. For example, an event triggered each time the robot enters a cell will only turn into an alert message if the defined entry point is closed. Thus, if the operator takes the necessary precautions before entering the cell, the event may be triggered but will not cause an alert, while an uncontrolled entry will both trigger the event, activating the precautions, and notify relevant parties of the situation with an alert message.
Conditional notification requires a custom interpreter. To enable this features for a specific event, Contact Event Gates Support.
