== VIS Version 28 is now RTM ==
New release of VIS has two very important updates beyond several improvements and bug fixes: user management and the new web based IPIO Manager.

=== User Management ===
From V28 forward users won't be able to register themselves but require a previously registered username and password. As a result to our commitment to the cybersecurity requirements of the new Machinery Directive of the European Union EU/2023/1230, only registered users will have access to VIS servers. Actions including system log in are logged with username. Neither modification of the system nor monitoring without a valid password is possible. Password are kept hashed without ability to reserve to plain text. 

The new user management system introduces a redesigned login page and removes the need to specify a port for Visor. Starting with version 28, access to VIS is provided via port 80 instead of port 5000. Other applications will continue to run on their respective ports, but they will be accessible only through Visor. Direct access via individual ports will no longer be supported in order to prevent unauthorized access. 

=== IPIO Manager 2.0 ===
To replace the previous IPIO Manager application we release a new web based app with V28. Accessible through Visor UI, the new IPIO Manager is capable to connect all IPIO devices in the network (with valid credentials of course) and offers all features of the legacy IPIO Manager app. Deployed with VIS V28, users won't require another application to run for IPIO management tasks. IPIO Manager 2.0 can also be installed to earlier versions of VIS upon request.
